The name of the restaurant, MEIMEI, which means „younger sister”, refers to one of the founders whose family came to Poland in 30s. Both the owners and the cooks are strongly connected with China. As they say, there was no restaurant that would offer Chinese meals as the only present restaurants would offer to the citizens of Łódź dishes characteristic for Vietnam or more eclectic dishes. MEIMEI wants to present the multifariousness of China, which is a true melting pot of flavours. In the south there are more sweet and mild dishes, in the west the dishes are more spicy, whereas in the north the dishes have more greasy. On two floors of this 250 m2 restaurant You can try traditional dishes from the Middle Kingdom. The specialty of MEI MEI is a Peking duck, which after being marinated in a mix of spices, is heated for two hours with warm air in a special oven brought from China. Another specialty is Dim Sum, steam cooked pouches and dumplings with a handmade filling.
