This sentence explains the idea behind the creation of Manufaktura and the way it is functioning.
In Manufaktura you will hear the heart beat of the city of Łódź and the new city centre where culture and sophisticated entertainment meets the world of commerce and leisure.
Manufaktura in really short time became, along with Piotrkowska Street, the business card of the city. Today it is hard ti imagine Łódź without Manufaktura. The Centre became one of the most recognizable symbols of the city. Manufaktura consists of museums, cinemas, discotheques, over 250 boutiques and shops and several dozen restaurants. Its central part, however, is an over 3 hectare big market square, which serves as an open public space. The cultural and entertainment events organized there attract not only the citizens of Łódź, but also the tourists. The market square also has its attractions – the longest fountain in Europe and brilliantly designed relaxation spots.
Manufaktura is well known not only nationwide but also abroad due to numerous awards given for a successful project of renovation of the historical postindustrial venue. All remodelling was done in a way that rescued the atmosphere of the old 19th century Łódź and Izrael Poznański’s factory. Therefore, what prevails, are the old postindustrial unclad red brick buildings, which were completely remodelled inside. In total, 90 000m² of historical interiors had been renovated. Additionally, 3 500 parking spaces for cars were created and 600 trees were planted. All investment cost over 200 millions of Euro.
